WORLD
Radiotheranostics DAY
See it. Treat it.

What are
radiotheranostics?
Radiotheranostics is an innovative and growing approach
in cancer medicine, one that helps doctors “see” cancer
and treat it precisely using tiny amounts
of radioactive molecules.

Why World
Radiotheranostics
Day Matters?
Despite its growing impact in cancer care,
radiotheranostics is still not widely known.
On this day, we aim to:
- Raise public awareness
- Support patients and families
- Highlight scientific innovation
- Advocate for access to precision cancer treatments
Radiotheranostics is not experimental science fiction; it has been helping patients around the world for 85 years.
85th anniversary
of the first treatment!
On March 31, 1941, Saul Hertz at Massachusetts General Hospital administered the first therapeutic dose of radioactive iodine to treat thyroid disease.
His groundbreaking idea was simple but revolutionary: because the thyroid naturally absorbs iodine, a radioactive form could selectively target and treat diseased tissue from within.
This moment marked the birth of targeted radionuclide therapy, the foundation of today’s radiotheranostics, which combines diagnosis and treatment to precisely fight disease.
Dr Saul Hertz World Theranostics Precision Medicine Day or World Radiotheranostics Day honors this historic moment and the vision that started precision, targeted cancer treatments.
