What are
Radiotheranostics ?
Radiotheranostics is an innovative treatment in cancer care.
It comes from three words:
RADIO
+
THERA
+
NOSTICS
means that
radioactive substance
are being used.
Contraction of “thera” for therapy
& “nostics” for diagnostics
Radiotheranostics uses radioactive substances to find cancer cells inside the body and then to deliver treatment directly to those same cells.

How does it work? See it. Treat it.
1
Targeting the tumor
A ligand is a vector that acts like a key: it’s designed to find and stick to the right “lock” (the biological target) on the cancerous cell’s surface.

2
Scan: See it
A tiny amount of a radioactive substance (safe and controlled) is attached to this vector and injected. A special imaging machine (often a PET scan) shows where it goes, revealing the cancer’s location and size.

3
Treat it
If the scan shows sufficient receptor presence and other conditions are met, the same vector is used again, but now it carries a different radioactive component that delivers therapeutic radiation directly to cancer cells. This helps destroy them while sparing most healthy tissue.

Who can be treated with it?
At present, in many countries, it is approved for 3 types of cancers :
Neuroendocrine
Prostate
Thyroid
Research is underway for many other cancer types.
While numerous treatments are still being studied or are in clinical trials,
we encourage you to explore a trial finder if you are interested in the cancer types listed below.
Breast Cancer
Kidney Cancer
Skin Cancer
Liver Cancer
Pancreatic

Leukemia
Patient voice
On world Radiotheranostics day,
we aim to :
Raise public awareness
Support patients and families
Highlight scientific innovation
Advocate for access to precision
cancer treatments
Why Awareness Matters ?
Because rising awareness means earlier conversations,
better referrals, more research, and, ultimately, more lives improved or changed.
